New CODE Framework Release Now Available
Houston, TX – December 21, 2016… EPS Software Corp., CODE, and Markus Egger Inc. are proud to announce a new CODE Framework release.
We are proud to announce the latest major release for CODE Framework. This release focusses both on the actual framework features as well as a new version of the Visual Studio tooling available for the framework.
New features and framework enhancements focus on several different areas. The ability to host services in WebApi has been enhanced with features such as CORS (cross domain call) support, enabling developers to allow for cross-domain calls (especially from JavaScript clients) in a secure and controlled fashion. The service hosting infrastructure has also been enhanced to support more complex URL patterns for the endpoints, which is especially useful when having to replace legacy services with unusual endpoint configurations, yet maintain full compatibility. In addition, service hosts now raise numerous new events that enable more control over service behavior and logging. Related to the ability to host services are enhancements to CODE Framework’s JSON support. New features have been added that allow for more advanced JSON creation and parsing.
The visual parts of the framework have also been enhanced. Views now have a simplified way to define standard layouts, making it easier for developers to unlock the power of that part of the framework in a more intuitive fashion. Similarly, the use of standard icons has been simplified in views, view-actions, and other components. Both these features also result in a more intuitive editor experience, with full IntelliSense support. Other enhancements in the visual framework include various new controls and control enhancements (such as caps-lock warnings and the ability to tie into the global Windows key handling system, new window properties, a new masked textbox feature, and many more…). List and Grid functionality has been updated to allow for more control over how lists and columns are created, and with enhanced support for dragging columns, sorting columns, and so forth.
The framework new features a new SettingsManager system that allows for the persistence of various settings, from window positions to choices the user has made. Settings can be tied to a local workstation, or follow the user in the cloud, on a case-by-case basis.
The CODE Framework Tools have received their first major overhaul in a while. Tools now support all the latest CODE Framework features (including the latest Themes). The new set of tools also picks up new standard features, such as the new icon and layout simplifications. Wizards provide a more intuitive visual view of the impact of choices, with more detailed explanations for the impact certain choices have. Developers report not just a drastic increase in productivity, but the new tools make it much easier, especially for novice developers, to unlock the full power of the framework.
